Mana is Botania’s central power resource. The easiest way to learn it is to follow a visible flow: a generating flower creates mana, a Mana Spreader sends it, a Mana Pool stores it, and crafting or functional systems consume it.
Generating flowers create mana
Generating flowers convert specific resources or environmental conditions into mana. Different flowers use different mechanics, so start with one whose input you can supply consistently and understand before scaling up.
Mana Spreaders move mana in bursts
A Mana Spreader transfers mana by firing visible bursts toward a valid target such as a Mana Pool. The Wand of the Forest is an important tool for inspecting and configuring Botania connections in-world.
Mana Pools provide a buffer
A Mana Pool stores mana between generation and use. A buffer makes a system easier to diagnose because you can see whether production is keeping up with consumption instead of having every component depend on perfect timing.
Use a small layout while learning
Place the generator, spreader and pool where their relationship is obvious. Once you can recognize normal behavior, expand the number of generators or add separate pools for different tasks.
Functional flowers consume mana for tasks
Many functional flowers use nearby mana to perform automation or utility actions. Organizing consumers by purpose helps you identify which area is draining storage when generation falls behind.
Crafting also consumes mana
Mana is used by several crafting and progression systems, including mana infusion and other later-game processes. Keep some storage capacity available instead of designing generation only for one continuous consumer.
Diagnose the flow in order
If something is not receiving mana, check generation first, then spreader targeting and transfer, then pool storage, and finally the consuming block or flower. Following the chain prevents random rebuilding.
